@QCbdi @Refugees @UNRefugeeAgency @Le_HCR @UNHCRUK Government of Burundi cites much higher numbers of returnees, but the majority appear not to have ever actually been registered as refugees, which is not abnormal at all for any given refugee situation but doesn’t affect our regional refugee population figures when they return.

@QCbdi @Refugees @UNRefugeeAgency @Le_HCR @UNHCRUK UNHCR has assisted more than 46,000 registered refugees to return to Burundi in the last year and probably at least 10,000 more have gone on their own.

@QCbdi @Refugees @UNRefugeeAgency @Le_HCR @UNHCRUK Figures have also been reduced as a result of ongoing population verification exercises which capture some of the “spontaneous” or self organized returns. But don’t forget several hundred to 1000 new refugees still arrive each month in the region. Also population growth.

@QCbdi @Refugees @UNRefugeeAgency @Le_HCR @UNHCRUK Actually UNHCR figures have been going down steadily this year in line with the numbers of registered refugees assisted to repatriate and currently stand at about 380,000. See here: https://t.co/6TpLGpyU4t

At #StepforSafety in Nairobi! Walking on a Sunday morning with and for #refugees. Great to have the younger generation here learning a bit about the experience of being a refugee. @UNHCR_Kenya @LuQuLuQuTribe #WithRefugees @YvonneNdege https://t.co/RHkYtKxByT

#Burundi refugees in Mulongwe, DRC are grateful to have been finally relocated out of overcrowded reception sites. New arrivals are busy constructing their shelters. And looking forward to the allocation of land for cultivation. And of course they also brought drums. https://t.co/fNRiSCnEY6

#Burundi refugee and Congolese children going to school together. Before #Lusenda Camp was established this school had 200-300 students. Now it has more than 1500! Generous refugee hosting countries like #DRC need more support to expand their social services. https://t.co/QFaO2zwmeV

@yaskhorsandi @Kinglimaa @Refugees @AJStream I think it’s great! She’s got a whole lot more Twitter followers than I do. And she has actually lived the refugee experience.
