Women in Nduta refugee camp in Tanzania told me how concerned they were about govt plans to shut down the vibrant common marketplace where refugees and the host community have been interacting for their mutual economic benefit. https://t.co/swaCPQImKt

Some refugees in Nduta Camp impatient to get home + Many still terrified by the idea = Why the return program must remain fully voluntary. Burundians: Don’t judge your compatriots for the very personal decisions they make. Govt of Tanzania: Lives are in your hands. https://t.co/4zFtyuw2ui

@raymond_hasa @gbukeyeneza @Refugees @JBoutroue @OPMUganda @Ikiriho @OmbudsmanBI @AShingiro @pnkurunziza @AnnGarrison Won’t bother answering the first statement, I think you know how silly it is: https://t.co/axyLjbwfzh In fact, UNHCR is assisting those Burundi refugees who choose to go home. 37,000+ so far. But it must be fully voluntary. Others are scared.

An emotional meeting with Burundi refugees in Uganda. One young man told me through tears, “80% of my schoolmates are refugees now. Its a problem of living when you cant see your future.” I learned how to pixelate faces because of their concerns about surveillance from home. https://t.co/IEUhzjF5Cl

In Uganda to meet Burundian @Refugees in Kampala, Nakivale Settlement, and newly arrived at the border. Grateful to the people and government of Uganda for continuing to welcome them, but funding from the international community is still woefully inadequate. https://t.co/qQLfu62ldZ

I love this - Members of “Junior Farmers Field School” growing and selling amaranth, spinach, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, cowpeas, kales, okre and other crops. South Sudan and Burundi refugees unlock the potential of vegetable farming in arid Turkana County https://t.co/uMGXcJcsRw
