The number of people who have been #forcedtoflee their homes has now crossed the staggering milestone of 100 million for the first time on record. This alarming figure is a wake-up call on the need for more action to promote peace and prevent and resolve forced displacement. https://t.co/bqQ7GOhFIG

Covid-19 is no excuse to ignore the law and refugees. The right to seek asylum and the prohibition of returns to danger are central tenets of international law - which also prohibit states from rejecting asylum seekers at borders.

20 countries in the world today deny access to asylum on the pretext of responding to the pandemic - ultimately denying safety and protection to people fleeing wars and persecution, and in contravention of international law. https://t.co/XA0n0wzbdy

This week 36 cities around the world have pledged to implement the Global Compact on Refugees. This is hugely significant –cities and local communities are often at the fore in hosting refugees and forcibly displaced people. We welcome these commitments and hope more will follow!

Across the world, LGBTIQ+ people face violence, persecution and discrimination. Many are forced to flee in search of safety. We will always advocate for the rights of LGBTIQ+ people to be protected - both at home, and in the places where they have sought refuge. #IDAHOTB https://t.co/69UO69RzsR

Many families have been separated by the war in Ukraine. Many refugees are without their partners, children or other family members who remain in Ukraine. Not only are they very anxious about their own circumstances but also about their loved ones who are left behind.

Women, children, older people, people with disabilities, and others with specific needs are among those who have fled Ukraine to Poland. In Krakow, I heard from refugees on the support they require - from medical care, psychological support, accommodation, to financial aid. https://t.co/L98ksJgsrS

I’m in Poland this week, a country which has welcomed more than 3 million refugees who have fled the war in Ukraine. Our @UNHCRPoland team is on the ground, working alongside national and local authorities, humanitarian partners and civil society to support those who have fled. https://t.co/6ZyMkgtUkI

Last week I was in India, a country with a long, historical tradition of supporting refugees. In Delhi and Chennai, I held very constructive discussions with national and regional authorities on protection, inclusion and solutions for refugees. https://t.co/yzbUvLbImL

The impact of rising forced displacement and the pandemic has left many national asylum systems with increasing caseloads and mounting backlogs. To help support States with the expedient and quality processing of cases, we've launched this new resource: https://t.co/6TZ0lk48i3
