The devastation and destruction of the war in Ukraine is staggering. ~40% of Ukraine’s population now need humanitarian assistance + protection, while 8 million have fled as refugees to other countries. This is a humanitarian crisis of a scale not witnessed in Europe for decades. https://t.co/bK92u8NWVu

Great news from Australia! Refugees who've been spending years in limbo on temporary protection visas will now have the opportunity to apply to stay permanently in the country. The UN Refugee Agency has long advocated for this type of permanent protection.https://t.co/sX6JP9ximn

2022 was one of the deadliest years on the Andaman Sea with 3,600 refugees adrift at sea and 340+ dead or missing. We need strong regional action for search and rescue, and safe disembarkation of people whose lives are in danger. This is our call at this week's #baliprocess meet.

Among those affected inside Syria are those already displaced from their homes by the country’s long-running crisis. In Türkiye, many thousands are refugees from Syria and their local communities, that have generously hosted them for nearly 12 years. https://t.co/VHdtQMIUOL

Religious communities have a long history of assisting those fleeing war. This week in Moldova, faith leaders from across the world called for more support for refugees + host communities. The solidarity in Moldova is an example for the rest of the world. https://t.co/HqToFw9aFA https://t.co/z3DrWEzV0k

Today I met with MPs at the Diet to launch UNHCR’s Handbook on Statelessness in Japanese and discuss action needed to ensure everyone has the right to nationality. Together we can develop a dedicated action plan to #endstatelessness in Japan and beyond. https://t.co/Uwkwtkbkl4

Cities are often at the forefront in welcoming refugees as they adjust to life in exile. Here in Chiba, Japan, refugees from Myanmar and Ukraine told us of the support they received from local authorities and businesses in accessing employment, learning Japanese and settling in. https://t.co/RwIr0k5cyo
