The NPC made its debut at the Örnsköldsvik 1976 Paralympic Winter Games.
Canada is ranked ninth in the Winter Games' all-time medal table.
Canada hosted the Paralympic Winter Games in 2010 when the event was held in Vancouver.
The NPC has claimed most of its medals in alpine skiing, taking 23 gold, 36 silver and 40 bronze medals. It needs one more medal to claim its 100th medal in this sport at the Paralympic Winter Games.
Biathlete and cross country skier Brian McKeever is Canada's most successful Paralympian in individual events: G10-S2-B1. He has claimed only one medal in biathlon (bronze in 2006).
McKeever won three gold medals at the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games, making him the second most successful male athlete of those Games. Only Roman Petushkov from Russia left Sochi more heavily decorated (6 gold medals).
McKeever won every event in the men's cross country visually impaired (1km, 10km and 20km) in both 2010 and 2014 at the Paralympic Games.
In 2006 he won the 5km and 10km and finished second in the 20km event.
McKeever is the most successful Paralympic athlete in individual events since 2006 (G8-S1-B1).
If only taking the last three Paralympic Winter Games into account, Canada would be third in the medal table (G22-S10-B16) following only Russia (G55-S57-B39) and Germany (G30-S15-B12).
