ANTI-DOPING EDUCATION
The International Paralympic Committee fully supports the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) view that the long-term solution to preventing doping is through effective values-based education programmes that can foster anti-doping behaviours and create a strong anti-doping culture. We want athletes, coaches and other support personnel to have access to the knowledge they need to compete clean and avoid committing an anti-doping rule violation because they didn't know the rules.

ADEL for Tokyo 2020 Paralympics

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has launched a new education course on its Anti-Doping Education and Learning platform (ADEL) designed specifically for athletes, coaches and support personnel attending the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. The new course, called ‘ADEL for Tokyo 2020 Paralympics’, is a collaboration between WADA and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). It aims to educate and inform users – in advance – about the anti-doping programme in Tokyo, including: key dates to be aware of; how to check medications and if necessary apply for a therapeutic use exemption (TUE); what whereabouts information is required during the Games; and an overview of the doping control process. The course is available on WADA’s ADEL platform in English, French and Spanish, with more languages to follow in the coming weeks. For those with limited or intermittent online access, there is the option to download the course using the ‘ADEL by WADA’ mobile App and complete it offline. The IPC encourages all those aiming to attend the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games to complete the course. Anti-doping education is not only of benefit to athletes and coaches – it also helps administrators and other support personnel better understand and carry out their roles and responsibilities. |

ADEL is a global anti-doping learning and education platform, launched by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to support the new International Standard for Education that took effect on 1 January 2021. This new platform provides education and learning opportunities for the anti-doping community worldwide, including athletes, coaches, parents, medical professional and more.
Users can access personalised learning plans that are specific to their roles, or pick from a range of education courses and information resources to meet their specific needs.
If you prefer to learn on the go or don't have reliable internet access, the platform also includes the 'ADEL by WADA' mobile App (available from the iTunes or GooglePlay stores) where courses can be downloaded and completed anytime later offline.
Users will need to register, creating a username and password, before they can access or enrol in the learning opportunities.
