Refugees in Lebanon access health services through hospitals, primary health care centres, and mobile health services.
UNHCR has supported more than 74,300 primary health care consultations between January and December 2019, approximately four per cent of which were for antenatal care, four per cent for non-communicable disease care and 30 per cent for mental health care, as well as 65,500 hospital admissions for life-saving and obstetric care.
UNHCR continues to partner with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) to strengthen the health system and reinforce response capacity.
In 2020, as part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, UNHCR performed construction works and donated medical equipment, supplies and medicines to selected governmental hospitals including ICU ventilators, portable X-ray machines, patient monitors, defibrillators, beds and furniture in order to reach a total national capacity increase of 800 normal beds and 100 ICU beds depending on the development of domestic transmission.
