Working Group Description
The Cash Sector aims to provide cash assistance to the most vulnerable Syrians and Jordanians affected by the Syrian crisis in urban and rural areas. Cash is used as a flexible way to complement assistance provided by other sectors and cover not addressed needs of the most vulnerable. In addition, it has been identified by refugees as the most dignified form of support that permits them to make choices and prioritize their specific needs. For 2014, the Cash Sector will provide the following types of cash assistance based on coordinated mechanisms and harmonized tools (needs assessments, vulnerability analysis, distribution methods, post distribution and evaluation measures etc.): urgent cash assistance, ongoing/regular cash assistance and seasonal cash assistance. All other forms of conditional cash assistance will be provided through the specific sector of intervention. Cash sector will ensure that all cash interventions are designed and implemented on the basis of the careful assessment of the Syrian population and a thorough analysis is dedicated on the specific needs of Syrian women, girls, boys and men. Sector partners have decided to strengthen the link between emergency assistance and more durable solutions under the development approach while being committed to collaborate with the Host Community platform and other initiatives. Sector members will continue monitoring the equal access of women, girls, boys and men to cash assistance.
