Over 80,000 displaced people in Pakistan reside in camps, which are home to 10% of the country's IDP population. The CCCM Cluster is operating in all three of the Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa camps, where significant improvements have been made between 2012 and 2013.
Since the beginning of 2012, renewed hostilities between various armed groups and the Congolese Army have caused a severe humanitarian crisis and the fresh displacement of close to 1 million people. The CCCM working group is coordinating both established camps and spontaneous sites in this extremely challenging environment.
Co-led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and IOM, the CCCM Cluster was rolled out in 2011 and 2012 at both national and regional levels in Central Mindanao, Cagayan de Oro, and Iligan Cities (Region 10). The cluster continues to be active in response to the Typhoon Bopha emergency in the Davao and CARAGA regions.
Since 2012 UNHCR has been providing support in Myanmar's northern Shan States, which boast around 150 IDP camps. CCCM activities in this area are concerned with improving living standards, supporting camp management and providing CCCM training.
Nigeria has experienced recurrent waves of internal displacement. In 2012 Nigeria experienced unprecedented floods that affected 33 out of 36 states and caused the displacement of approximately 2.1 million individuals. The CCCM working group in Nigeria consists of government, international and local actors who are working together to improve national capacities.
