World Bank Group joins the Solutions Alliance Governing Board


The Solutions Alliance is pleased to announce that on 31 March 2016, the World Bank Group was confirmed as a member of the Solutions Alliance Governing Board. The World Bank Group expressed delight at joining the Alliance’s six-member Board and recognised the important contributions of Solutions Alliance partners in supporting improvements in the lives of displaced and their host communities and promoting lasting solutions to conflict-induced displacement. This addition to the Board will be a very welcome one, given the World Bank Group’s increasing focus on conflict-induced forced displacement.  

European Development Days 2016 highlights displacement and development approach


The European Development Days (EDD) took place 15-16 June 2016, and focused on the theme of the ‘2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’. The conference featured many sessions on the topic of displacement, including a lab debate 'Tapping into the Economic Potential of Refugees', moderated by Niels Harild. A number of governments underlined the value of the Solutions Alliance’s approach in dealing with protracted displacement and promoting sustainable solutions for conflict-induced displacement. The panel had representatives from the governments of Turkey, Lebanon, Germany and Denmark, with Steffen Angenendt, Head of Research Division Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), setting the stage. 

Niels Harild confirmed as the new Head of Secretariat

The Solutions Alliance is delighted to welcome Niels Harild as its new Head of Secretariat. Niels is an economist who brings with him 36 years of experience working on conflict, forced displacement, fragility, transition, peace- and state-building issues with specific focus on bringing together humanitarian and development actors.

Solutions Alliance releases National and Thematic Groups Fact Sheets

 
The Solutions Alliance has launched Fact Sheets on their National and Thematic Groups. The Fact Sheets provide context about the Groups, including background, objectives and membership.
