Development approaches to displacement at European Development Days 2016
On 15-16 June 2016 in Brussels, Belgium, the European Development Days 2016 focused on the theme of ‘2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’.
The conference included over 120 sessions, with many focused on the topic of development approaches in displacement contexts. Notably, a debate was moderated by the now Head of the Solutions Alliance Secretariat, Niels Harild, on ‘Tapping into the Economic Potential of Refugees’.
The session panel included representatives from the governments of Turkey, Lebanon, Germany and Denmark, along with Steffen Angenendt, Head of Research Division Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik. Speakers underscored the value of the Solutions Alliance’s approach in promoting a development lens to protracted, conflict-induced displacement.
