Description
The Protection & Return Monitoring Network (PRMN) is a UNHCR-le d proje ct which identifies and reports on displacements of populations and protection incidents in Somalia . At the beginning of April 2017, Norwegian Refugee Council (the partner organization implementing the PRMN) mapped the main IDP sites in and around Baidoa recording top-line population figures and coordinates.

Drought-related displacement headlines:
• 46,000 new drought-driven displacements were recorded in the month of May 2017 (down roughly 70% compared to April) bringing the total drought-driven displacements figure since 1 Nov 2016 to more than 739,000.
• Based on disaggregated data, more than 65% of those displaced (460,000) were under 18 – of those, 195,000 (26%) are estimated to be children under 5 years old being those most at risk from malnutrition and disease.
• Some 7,700 IDP returns were recorded during the month primarily from IDP sites in Baidoa town to home locations within Baidoa district and elsewhere in Bay region
