At the beginning of April 2017, Norwegian Refugee Council (the partner organization implementing the PRMN) mapped the main IDP sites in and around Baidoa recording top-line population figures and coordinates.

Drought-related displacement headlines: • 46,000 new drought-driven displacements were recorded in the month of May 2017 (down roughly 70% compared to April) bringing the total drought-driven displacements figure since 1 Nov 2016 to more than 739,000. • Based on disaggregated data, more than 65% of those displaced (460,000) were under 18 – of those, 195,000 (26%) are estimated to be children under 5 years old being those most at risk from malnutrition and disease. • Some 7,700 IDP returns were recorded during the month primarily from IDP sites in Baidoa town to home locations within Baidoa district and elsewhere in Bay region

HIGHLIGHTS 676 new arrivals from Yemen 903 individuals provided with health care assistance 193 core relief items provided to 188 households (387 individuals) Cash assistance provided to 1,675 households and 318 individuals 801 individuals enrolled in community-based projects

Seven boats arrived in Berbera, carrying a total of 278 individuals (140 Somalis, 120 Yemenis and 18 individuals of other nationalities). All new arrivals were registered by UNHCR in direct collaboration with the local authorities and partners.
