Current numbers are in no way comparable to 2015/2016 when there were 193000 monthly arrivals at the peak of Oct 2015. They are also significantly lower compared to the onset of the war in 🇺🇦 when countries in Europe effectively received over 1 million refugees in under 1 week.
While there have been increased arrivals to the Western Balkans region during August compared to previous years (+/- 27000), arrivals earlier this year were lower than usual and the total amount of 2022 arrivals (104000) hasn't exceeded the numbers during the same period in 2021
A pleasure to see you again @MonicaSilvanaG ! Thank you for the further discussion on the importance of sustained + predictable 🇪🇺 humanitarian aid for people forced to flee - whoever they are, wherever they come from + whenever they are forced to flee. We appreciate your support https://t.co/K5pyhxpt8Z
With over 6 million Venezuelan refugees + migrants globally, the majority in Latin America + the Caribbean, this is the second-largest displacement crisis in the world.
We welcome 🇪🇺 support including to UNHCR. As needs grow, sustained EU support is needed now more than ever. https://t.co/LEdvRcREJ7
Thank you for your visit. These are great examples of local government + refugees working together on integration policies, practices + implementation.
This is a model to be replicated to support refugees wherever they may be from.
This is solidarity + innovation in action! https://t.co/hNHMGzxH5j
Since the EU's March decision to offer Temporary Protection to refugees from 🇺🇦 over 4.2 million who fled the country have found safety in Europe.
As war continues we welcome the extension + also encourage 🇪🇺 states to continue work to ensure a common + workable asylum system. https://t.co/qDt2xeKqpZ
