Pleased to be with stateless changemakers, EU & civil society actors at today's @ENStatelessness event.   More action is needed to ensure everyone has the right to nationality. I called on 🇪🇺 institutions to develop a dedicated action plan to #endstatelessness in the EU & beyond. https://t.co/1c8CUCNtrA

Productive discussion with @MKoehlerEU in Brussels today on the centrality of protection in our partnership with @eu_echo. I look forward to continuing to work together to ensure effective protection for refugees and internally displaced people.

In Dublin, I saw first-hand the extraordinary efforts of the Irish Government to welcome those fleeing conflict and persecution. Thank you to the Irish people and Minister @rodericogorman for your generous response. https://t.co/BmNQfeYQxo

It is vital that refugees have access to justice, legal support, information and representation. The legal community has a critical role to play in helping refugees advance their rights. This was the subject of our discussion at today's PILnet Global Forum https://t.co/vQb3W6Odwt

At the Global Refugee Forum in 2019, law firms, bar associations and corporations pledged 125k pro bono hours of legal help for refugees. As of today, they have provided almost triple that- more than 310k. This is an incredible achievement and one UNHCR is most heartened to see.

We have the legal and policy tools for effective international protection - but what is needed is the political will and commitment to ensure they are fully applied. If implemented, they will help address many of the protection needs of the people we serve https://t.co/KoKRjeEx2j

The global protection crisis can’t be resolved unilaterally. We must act collaboratively and we have the tools to do so- from the Global Compact on Refugees (our “Lode Star”) which calls for equitable responsibility sharing to the UNSG’s “Our Common Agenda” roadmap for the future

The world faces a humanitarian protection crisis on an unprecedented scale, driven by inequality, poverty, discrimination, violence, food insecurity, a lack of adherence to the rule of law and governance- compounded by climate change and the socio-economic impacts of the pandemic

The war in Ukraine and other conflicts have driven the number of the world’s forcibly displaced to over 100 million. Each year we report ever increasing numbers and each year the dire plight of those displaced deepens. https://t.co/4xIASXML08
