Terrorism was described as a main obstacle to development at the just concluded #TICAD7 in Japan attended by many leaders from Africa. Yet, before becoming a cause of suffering for ordinary people, it is often a consequence of poor governance. Fair social contracts are needed.

In Yokohama, Japan at #TICAD7, attended a side event co-organized with @jica_direct_en. Good to see the concept of human security, championed by Japan in the 1990’s, in addition to state security, being revived. Refugee self-reliance & inclusion is very much about human security https://t.co/SH14seGf6f

At #TICAD7 in Japan accompanying @RefugeesChief. Economic development in Africa cannot leave behind 25 million refugees & other displaced on the continent. Rather than encampment their inclusion in the communities, which welcomed them, is needed until peace returns in their homes https://t.co/3RG5FOwG72

Still reflecting on the short story’s conclusion: “The king and the queen drank the water of madness and immediately began talking nonsense. Their subjects repented at once; now that the king was displaying such wisdom, why not allow him to continue ruling the country?” https://t.co/MGirRa4zSb
