Family members of refugees who were granted international protection (asylum or subsidiary protection) in Czechia, can be reunited and live together in Czechia. To do so, the family members have to apply for family reunification.
Who is a family member?
In general, family reunification applies to:
• Spouses, or same-sex registered partners
• Parents and minor dependent children
• In some cases other relatives
There are several options that the family members can choose, depending on where they are.
- If the family members are still abroad, they can apply at the responsible Czech embassy/consulate for:
1. Long-term residence permit for the purpose of family reunification
2. Long-term visa for the purpose of family reunification - If the family members are already in Czechia, they can apply for:
1. Long-term residence permit for the purpose of family reunification
2. International protection (asylum or subsidiary protection) based on family reunification
