A representative of Amnesty International in Toronto provided the following information on the above subjects during a telephone interview on 1 June 1992.

Since the policies of the government of Iran are unpredictable, no one would really know what would happen to the child if he/she were to return to Iran; anything can happen (1 June 1992).

A representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Ottawa provided the following information on the above subjects during a telephone interview on 1 June 1992.

 1) No one could tell what would happen to this child if he/she were to return to Iran because it is "strictly up to the Iranian authorities" to decide on the fate of this child (Ibid.). However, there have been many reports on the imprisonment of children in Iran. 2) It is unpredictable whether the mother can be executed for arranging the flight of her child while in prison. However, it is known that the child's flight from Iran was illegal; "illegal departure" is punishable.

Additional and/or corroborating information on the above subjects is currently unavailable to the IRBDC.
