According to an official of the Spanish embassy in Ottawa, the above-mentioned issue is regulated by Chapter Three of Law 5 of 26 March 1984, dealing with the recognition and loss of refugee status, and points 18-31 of Law 9 of 26 March 1994. Copies of these laws are available in Spanish at the DIRB in Ottawa.

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
