A Nigerian man was hospitalized after being shot by an unknown assailant in a Kyrgyz resort near lake Issyk-Kul.
Issyk-Kul regional police spokesman Stalbek Usubakunov told RFE/RL the incident took place on July 22 in a resort near the town of Cholpon-Ata.
The man, whose name was not disclosed, is currently being treated in a clinic in Bishkek.
Local police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Issyk-Kul, the 10th largest lake in the world by volume, is a popular holiday resort.
