According to the 21 January 1997 Elta and the 30 January - 5 February 1997 Baltic Times attachments, the 1951 Geneva Convention and the 1967 New York Protocol on Refugee Status have been recently ratified by Lithuania. For information on a parliamentary amendment to the law on the ratification of the Convention and the Protocol, please consult the 23 April 1997 BNS attachment. Additional information on the above-mentioned topics could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
