No information on whether the six bills on domestic violence that were pending in 1997 have been passed into law nor the effects, if any, of former-president Ramos' May 1997 directive on domestic violence, could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

Please note that News from the Philippines reported on 19 March 1997 that President Ramos had issued a "recent memorandum [in which he] called on officials of national government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, and local government units to engage in a personal advocacy against domestic violence."
