No mention of any activity of the National Union of Bahrain Students (NUBS), or the National Students of Bahrain, could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate, including the Website of the University of Bahrain.

However, according to the 1990 edition of Youth Movements of the World, the National Union of Bahrain Students (NUBS) was a member at that time of the International Union of Students (IUS) and the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), with an address at that time of Posta 34, Box 10, 130 00 Prague 3, Czechoslovakia Federal Republic (1990, 70). Both the 1989 Yearbook on International Communist Affairs and the 1990 edition of Communist and Marxist Parties of the World identify the IUS and the WFDY as "international communist front organizations" (441-448; 471-473). However, neither source identifies the NUBS in any way and the Research Directorate was unable to determine the level of activity of the NUBS, if any, in these organizations.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of additional sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
