IMPRISONED

Somaliweyn Radio reporter Abdulkadir was released on February 11 after 40 days of detention at the security offices next to the presidential palace in Mogadishu. Abdulkadir was accused of "terrorist activity" after traveling to the capital of Eritrea, Asmara, last year to cover a conference of Somali opposition groups. The director of Somaliweyn Radio, Hudeyfi, was also imprisoned – from January 13-28 – for protecting Abdulkadir.
