The conflicts in Syria and Ukraine were expected to top the agenda for talks in Moscow between Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and the head of the International Red Cross.
Medvedev's press service said the November 24 meeting with Peter Maurer, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, would focus on "humanitarian crises in different regions of the world."
Maurer's three-day visit to Moscow comes as the fighting in Syria in particular consumes major resources of agencies like the Red Cross and the United Nations.
Maurer met with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on November 23, where discussion focused on getting humanitarian aid to civilians in war zones.
The besieged Syrian city of Aleppo has been a major focus for aid agencies.
More than 250,000 civilians are still in the city's eastern districts, and little to no food aid has entered since July, prompting food and fuel shortages.
The Syrian regime and its main backer, Russia, have subjected those districts to withering air strikes and bombings in an effort to gain a strategic victory there.
