The head of the Werder Bremen football club in northern Germany said its match on March 1 will take place despite a warning of an imminent attack on the city by extremists.
Bremen police have issued a warning that there was an imminent threat of an attack from Islamic extremists.
A Bremen police statement issued February 28 said federal officials had given information the previous evening about potentially dangerous threats from Islamic extremists on the city of Bremen.
No details were given about the nature of the threat.
The game was scheduled for 5:30 p.m. local time, and more than 40,000 people were expected to attend the game.
Police said security would be increased in the city center and the airport.
Earlier this month police cancelled a Carnival street parade in Braunschweig due to concerns about a possible terrorist threat.
