A specific response to your request could not be obtained from the Canadian mission in Tunisia within the time constraints of your request. However, according to the attached printout of the Canadian visitor's visa application requirements and procedures, as published in the internet website of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), "after reviewing your application, a visa officer will decide if an interview is necessary" (see under subheading "The Application"). In such cases the applicant will be informed of the time and place of the interview.

Please note that this document is intended for public reference and is not a legal  document; for legal information on the subject, please refer to the Immigration Act and Regulations, available through your Regional Documentation Centre.

Also attached, please find an excerpt from a CIC publication which,  under the title "Visitors to Canada," explains various aspects of applying for a Canadian visitor's visa. The same publication indicates that the Canadian mission in Paris serves as a "Full Service Centre" and that the Canadian mission in Tunisia serves as its "Satellite Office" for immigration and visa cases from Libya (CIC 1997, 62).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
