The Legislationline Web site contains an English-language version of the Federal Law No. 62-FZ on Russian Federation Citizenship of 31 May 2002, which includes amendments and additions from 11 November 2003 and 2 November 2004 (Russia 31 May 2002). A third amendment to the Citizenship Law was published on 11 January 2007. It reads as follows:

Article 1

Part 4 of Article 14 of the Federal Law of 31 May 2002, No. 62-FZ, on Russian Federation Citizenship (Statutes of the Russian Federation [Sobranie Zakonodatel'stva Rossiyskoi Federatsii], 2002, No.22, p. 2031; 2003, No. 46, p. 4447) shall be amended as follows:

"4. Foreign citizens and stateless persons who were citizens of the USSR, who have come to the Russian Federation from states that were part of the USSR, who were registered at their place of residence in the Russian Federation as of 1 July 2002, or have received permission to stay in the Russian Federation on a temporary basis or have received a permit for residence in the Russian Federation shall be granted Russian Federation citizenship under simplified procedure without regard to the provisions of Items "a", "c" and "e" of Part 1 of Article 13 of this Federal Law if, prior to 1 January 2008, they declare their wish to become citizens of the Russian Federation."

Article 2

The present Federal Law shall come into force on the day of its official publication. (Russia 3 Jan. 2006)
