General Yacin Yabeh Galab died on 18 July 2002 (AFP 20 Jul. 2002; Agence Djiboutienne d'information 18 Jul. 2002; Country Reports 2002 31 Mar. 2003, sec. 1d; ARDHD 12-19 July 2002). Two sources explained that General Yacin Yabeh Galab died in Djiboutian hospital because of a lack of necessary medical treatment (AFP 20 July 2002; ARDHD 12-19 July 2002).

On its Website, the Ligue djiboutienne des droits humains (LDDH), which is affiliated with the Paris-based International Federation of Human Rights Leagues (FIDH), published several communiqués urging the government to permit General Yacin Yabeh Galab be taking to France to receive proper medical care (LDDH 20 Mar. 2001; ibid. 14 Mar. 2001; ibid. 21 Feb. 2001).
