Sources consulted by the DIRB provide information on Punjabi police/security forces casualties in October 1990.

Quoting the state police chief of Punjab, a Delhi Domestic Service broadcast reported the murder of a police constable by "terrorists" (30 Oct. 1990). Another Delhi Domestic Service broadcast reported that in Punjab, "terrorists" had injured an assistant sub-inspector of police and a Border Security Force soldier (25 Oct. 1990).

Referring to a Press Trust of India report, AFP reported the killing of 24 people, including two policemen in Punjab (27 Oct. 1990).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
