Information on the Jatiya Party rallies in Barisal and on the attempted abduction of the Women's Affairs secretary could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB.

However, please consult the attached Reuters report for information that may be of interest on general strikes called by the Awami League and its allies, the Jatiya Party and the Jamaat-i-Islami, in Barisal, Dhaka, Khulna and Rajshahi in September 1994.
