1 December 2015 - United Nations Secretary-Genera, Ban Ki-moon has condemned the two bomb attacks in Baghdad, Iraq, which yesterday killed at least 15 civilians and injured several dozen, many of whom were marking the Shi'a religious observance of Arbaeen.

"The Secretary-General stresses that no cause can justify such acts of terrorism. He hopes that the perpetrators of these heinous crimes will be swiftly brought to justice," said a statement issued by his spokesperson in New York.

Mr. Ban expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

"The Secretary-General reiterated the commitment of the UN and the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq [UNAMI] to support the Government and people of Iraq in bringing an end to sectarianism and fostering a spirit of national unity and reconciliation," the statement concluded.
