According to a staff member of the Cuban embassy in Ottawa, Cuba does not accept dual citizenship with any country, and therefore Cuba does not recognize dual citizenship with Spain (4 Oct. 1994). A Cuban citizen who acquires another citizenship loses her or his Cuban citizenship (ibid.). To the knowledge of the staff member, the Cuban citizenship law has not been changed since the promulgation of the 1976 constitution.
