A Chinese court has sentenced a disabled activist and her husband to jail for "provoking trouble."
The couple, Ni Yulan and her husband, Dong Jiqin, has long helped victims of government-backed land grabs in China.
Ni, a former lawyer, was sentenced to two years and eight months in jail, while her husband was sentenced to two years.
The couple's daughter, Dong Xuan, said her parents' conviction stemmed from their refusal to pay an $11,000 bill for a hotel where police placed them in June 2010, after Ni was released from a previous two-year jail sentence.
The couple had been living on the streets after their central Beijing home was demolished following a legal battle in November 2008.
