Bangladesh: More Murder and Demonstrations in Dhaka

On Monday 2 November, hundreds of people took to the streets of the capital, including writers, publishers and bookshop owners, in demonstration, with books burned and businesses closed in protest against the fear and impunity which has reigned in regard to the murder of Bangladesh's writers, bloggers and publishers, as well as some aid workers and activists.
On Saturday, Faisal Arefin Dipan was murdered, following death threats via social media- Dipan was a writer, blogger and publisher at Jagriti Prokahashani publishing house, which had published secular books including books written by murdered blogger Avijit Roy.
This killing brings the number of murders of bloggers and communicators to five this year within a period of less than eight months. The body of Dipan was found inside his office, according to police officers.
Earlier the same day, publisher Ahmed Rahim Tutul, who had also published books by Avijit Roy, was wounded at the officer of Shudhdhoswar publishing house, and two writers attacked: all three victims were hospitalised.
