According to a representative of the Embassy of Italy in Ottawa, anyone who has legally obtained an Italian passport is an Italian citizen and, as a result, is entitled to all the rights and priviledges confered by this status, including the right to work and reside in Italy (28 Apr. 1994).
This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
