The following information was provided to the DIRB by the counsellor of the Jamaican High Commission in Ottawa during a 16 December 1996 telephone interview.
The counsellor confirmed that the Domestic Violence Act was passed by Congress in the course of 1995. However, the source could not confirm whether the law has been gazetted and enacted at this point in time.
