The Commissioner of Police in Basseterre reported that all police files dating back at least ten years should be available (14 June 2001). The same official went on to say that all important records were protected during Hurricane Georges and that he was not aware of any reports of loss (ibid). However, in order to ascertain the availability of a particular file, the name and date of birth of the complainant as well as the district in which the complaint was filed would have to be provided.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum. Please find below the list of additional sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
