The following information was provided to the DIRB in a letter sent by fax from the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Ottawa. The Ministry of the Interior is responsible for issuing student visas and residence permits. All foreigners wishing to obtain permission to reside in Turkey must apply to the Ministry of the Interior. The application process for a residence permit takes "usually 6 to 8 weeks." A residence permit is valid for "usually one year."
