An official at the Consular section of the British High Commission in Ottawa indicated in a 27 November 1995 letter sent to the DIRB that unlike British citizenship, "citizenship of a Depedent Territory does not give the holder right of abode in the United Kingdom." The official further indicated in the letter that a holder of a Dependent Territories passport "does not have the right to live and/or work in the United Kingdom without prior entry clearance" (27 Nov. 1995). However, such as person does not require a visa to enter the United Kingdom if "his or her intention is for a visit only" (ibid.).
