Another round of talks on resolving the Transdniester conflict started in Vienna on June 5.

The press service of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) reports that the negotiations are expected to continue for two days.

The so-called 5+2 format includes Moldova and its breakaway region of Transdniester, with Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE as mediators and the United States and the European Union as observers.

The special representative of the OSCE chairperson in office for the Transdniester settlement process, Radojko Bogojevic, is presiding over the current round.

Moscow-backed Transdniester declared independence from Moldova in 1990. The two sides fought a brief war in 1992 that ended when the Russian military intervened on the side of Transdniester.

No country has recognized Transdniester's independence.
