Revolutionary and Dissident Movements (Degenhardt 1988, 320) reported in 1988 that the Movement for Resistance (Mouvement pour la resistance) was a movement of Seychellois exiles based in London. However, information on this movement does not appear in current literature on politics and political parties in the Seychelles. An article published in the Indian Ocean Newsletter (25 Jan. 1992, 4) states that there are nine opposition parties in the Seychelles but the Mouvement pour la résistance is not one of them. These parties with the exception of the Parti Seselwa (Parti Seychellois), reportedly operate outside the Seychelles. Reports on the leader of the Parti Seselwa are contradictory. According to the Indian Ocean Newsletter (25 Jan. 1992), the Parti Seselwa is led by Father Wavel Remkalawan and is supported by Jean François Ferrari who is also its Secretary General. The Indian Ocean Newsletter of 14 Dec. 1991, however, states that Jean-François Ferrari is the leader of the Parti Seselwa. Jean-François Ferrari is reportedly the son of the former foreign minister and leader of the United Democratic Party, Dr. Maxime Ferrari.
