The following information was provided by the assistant manager of operations at the Atlantic Bank Ltd. in Belize City during a 4 November 1998 telephone interview.
The bank is based in Belize City and has no branches outside the country. The Atlantic Bank Ltd. operates only four automatic teller machines (ATMs) in Belize City. In order to use these ATMs, one must have a bank account with the bank. The banks' ATMs provide transaction receipts to its customers in English. The receipt's header reads: "Atlantic Bank Ltd." on the first line, then the second line reads: "National A.T.M. Network." The bank's logo, which can be described as a stylized "a" and "b," is also represented on the transaction receipt.
The employee at the Atlantic Bank Ltd. who could provide information on the unit 14031 was not available.
In a 6 November 1998 fax sent to the Research Directorate, the assistant manager of operations confirmed that the attached document is a copy of a transaction receipt of Atlantic Bank Ltd. in Belize City.
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
