A suicide car bomber targeting an Afghan security convoy has killed at least three members of the security forces in Helmand, while a roadside bomb killed a district police chief in Khost.
Police said the car bombing occurred on the outskirts of Lashkar Gah, the capital of the southern province of Helmand, on October 18.
Five Afghan soldiers and one civilian were also wounded in the blast.
Meanwhile, the provincial governor's office in the eastern province of Khost said the district police chief was killed by a roadside bomb near the city of Khost.
The statement said the blast also wounded three police officers and a civilian.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks, but the Taliban have step up assaults against Afghan and foreign forces across the country as most international troops are preparing to withdraw by the end the year.
