Please find attached some information on the Barua (not Barva) people of the Chittagong area in Bangladesh that was provided on 2 December 1997 to the Research Directorate by the campaigns officer of Survival for Tribal Peoples in London, United Kingdom. Please note that this information is not from Survival itself as it does not work with the Barua people nor does it have a formal position on them. This information comes from the campaigns officer's own investigations and enquiries to contacts whom she trusts.

For information on Survival for Tribal Peoples, please consult the 8 December 1997 attachment from Survival's director general.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
