The Nordic Africa Institute (Nordiska Afrikainstitutet) in Uppsala, Sweden contains two references to Lefe Isa in Ethiopia on its website; the first location is north-east of Jijiga and the second site is near the border with Somalia (n.d). The website of Maplandia, a google maps world gazetteer, indicates that both geographical locations called Lefe Isa are located in Jijiga, Somali, Ethiopia (Maplandia n.d.a; ibid. n.d.b). Please find attached to this Response to Information Request a copy of "Proclamation No. 378/2003 – A Proclamation on Ethiopian Nationality," which provides information on the acquisition and renunciation of Ethiopian citizenship, and a map of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) which shows the administrative regions and zones within Ethiopia, including the region Somali and the zone Jijiga.

Information on the identity cards employed by residents of Lefe Isa could not be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim for refugee protection. Please find below the list of sources consulted in researching this Information Request.
