Authorities in Azerbaijan say security forces have killed two suspected "terrorists" in an operation conducted in "various regions of the republic."

The government said on October 28 that the operations were conducted over the previous two days and were aimed at "arresting members of a radical criminal group" identified as the Caucasian Jamaat.

Officials said one suspected "terrorist" had been arrested. They did not say where the killings or the arrest took place.

In February, Azerbaijan arrested eight men on suspicion of fighting for the Islamic State (IS) extremist organization in Syria and Iraq.
