For information on the acquisition of Bulgarian citizenship by a foreign national married to a Bulgarian citizen, please refer to Response to Information Request BGR11806 of 2 October 1992, which is available at your Regional Documentation Centre. Although there is some question about the adoption of new nationality legislation, there is evidence that the legislation has not yet changed (please refer to Response to Information Request BGR15815.E), the information regarding the acquisition of citizenship by virtue of having a Bulgarian spouse appears to still be valid.
