In a 19 January 2005 telephone interview, the coordinator of the Roma Women's Association in Romania stated that the association receives independent funding and has never received governmental funds.

She mentioned that there was a possibility for the Romanian government to fund some projects in the coming year, since the inclusion of Roma is becoming more important for the government (Roma Women's Association 19 Jan. 2005).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim for refugee protection.
