On 14 December 2000, four former police officers, namely Hugo Trentini, Daniel Gómez, Roberto Gualpa and Alejandro Cubillos (Clarín 15 Dec. 2000), were found guilty of involvement in the killing of Sebastián Bordón in 1997, and sentenced to prison terms ranging from 10 to 15 years (La Gaceta 15 Dec. 2000; Clarín 15 Dec. 2000). Amanda Lesdema and Esteban Merelo, a para-psychologist and former police officer respectively, were found guilty of concealment (encubrimiento) and received prison sentences of between two and two and a half years (ibid.). Three other individuals charged in connection with Bordón's death, namely Carlos Escobar, Juan de Dios Atencio and Humberto Vega, were found innocent (ibid.).
According to La Casita de Sebastián, a Website providing information on Bordón's death and the ensuing investigation and trial of his alleged killers, Hugo Trentini was represented by lawyers Juan Navarro Juri and Antonio Navarro Juri (2000). This information was corroborated by the Mendoza newspaper Diario Los Andes in a 19 October 2000 report. Roberto Gualpa was also represented by Juan Navarro Juri (La Casita de Sebastián 2000; Canal 9 Televida 23 Mar. 2001; Diario Los Andes 1 Feb. 2001). Alejandro Cubillos was represented by Zuliman Bittar (La Casita de Sebastián 2000; Página/12 26 Aug. 2000; Diario Uno 21 June 2001), who also served as lawyer to Amanda Lesdema (Clarín 25 Aug. 2000; Diario Uno 21 June 2001; La Casita de Sebastián 2000) and Humberto Vega (ibid.). Esteban Merelo was represented by Alberto Pérez Pesce and Armando Pérez Pesce (ibid.; Diario Uno 21 June 2001). Daniel Gómez was represented by Jorge Montini (ibid.; La Casita de Sebastián 2000). Juan de Dios Atencio was represented by José Luis Pina Satur and his wife, Aída González (Diario Los Andes 29 Nov. 2000; La Casita de Sebastián 2000). Carlos Escobar was represented by Carlos Mario Bernaldo de Quiros and Carlos R. Reig (ibid.; Diario Los Andes 29 Nov. 2000; ibid. 30 Nov. 2000).
