Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian, who has been in custody for nine months in Tehran, is to appear in court next week.
Rezaian's lawyer, Leila Ahsan, said his wife, Yeganeh Salehi, also a journalist, and another suspect were summoned to the court on the same day.
"If there is sufficient time the trial will start, but if not, the proceedings will be dealt with in another court session," Ahsan said.
Rezaian, who holds dual U.S.-Iranian citizenship, was detained in July 2014 and formally charged last month with espionage, "collaboration with hostile governments," gathering classified information, and disseminating propaganda against Iran.
The 39-year-old is being held in Tehran's Evin Prison. His wife and the other suspect have been granted bail.
